Daniel Grant Interview

How old are you, and where are you from (what park do you ride at the most)?
12 years old from TWP!

How long have you been wakeboarding/wakeskating?
Wakeskating 3 years,
Wakeboarding 4 years.

Who or what got you involved with watersports?
I started on a skateboard at the age of 3, my friend invited me to a local cable in Thailand when I was 8. Within 6 months I entered a comp and won best young rider and since that stay was totally addicted to the sport.

Do you play other sports too? Are you as good at those?
Only skateboarding, I have no time for any other sports, except riding.

Is there one person inparticular that has helped you progress so fast?
Loads of people, all the crew at Thai Wake Park (TWP) especially people like Didi, Aum and Aey. Now even European riders staying long time are helping me out.

How many days a week do you ride?
Every day.

What motivates you to keep riding and progressing?
I just love riding and hanging out at the lake with my friends. Sticking a new trick is what keeps me motivated.

Do you like wakeboarding or wakeskateing better?
For both it's on and off. It depends on my feeling as well as the next competition. I rode a lot of wakeskate last year when I stepped into the open mens category, now need to push more on wakeboard and enjoy it a lot more, as I am progressing.

What is your favorite trick?
Wakeboard - Frontslip to Blind.
Wakeskate - Backside bigspin.

What is the last trick you learned? What will be the next?
Wakeboard - Switch Mobe, Next trick, KGB.
Wakeskate - Frontside Flip, Next trick, Backside Flip.

Moby Dick 5

Is there any trick that scares you?
Pete 5

Is there anyone in particular you try to model your riding style after?
No one in particular, I like a mix of all riders of style and that go big. For Wakeskate, riders who have smooth shoves and kickflips.

Who are your favorite riders to watch?
Wakeboard - Keith Lidberg , Randall Harris , Dean Smith and Arron Rathy
Wakeskate - Andy Kolb , Nick Taylor , Andrew Pastura , Dieter Humpsch

Do you plan on doing much traveling for contests, or is wakeboarding just for fun?
I am Planing to go to places like Europe and the States this year last year i also went to the U.K Wakeboarding is always for fun anyway.

What is your biggest personal goal with wakeboarding? Is there a contest you would like to win, or a person you'd like to ride with, or a place you'd like to ride at?
My biggest goal is to just to travel to as many places as possible and meet many people from loads of countries, there's not really a comp that i wanna win i just want to ride at all the different places and have the best experiences ever! For me i want to just try riding at every cable park in the world !

Where do you see yourself within the wake industry in 5 years?
Not at school :) and hopefully being able to make a living from riding.

What advice do you have for other young rippers who want to progress their riding?
Don't get frustrated, ride hard and never give up. And always enjoy your riding.

Is there anyone you would like to thank?
Everyone at Thai Wakepark for helping me out, pushing me to land new stuff and helping me to achieve things.
